These photos of awkward teens in the late 1960s in Upper Hutt, New Zealand come from Revelle Jackson. I'm the right age to remember similar situations in different venues.

This dance, for fifth and sixth formers and ex-pupils, was organised by Father Kelly and a team of prefects from Heretaunga, Upper Hutt, St Patrick's, St Bernard's and Sacred Heart colleges. Date is May 10, 1969.

This picture shows the boys' costume winner: Zigmund Poczwa, a 'hippie', 

from St Patrick's College, in the centre of the picture.
